Februarists Surprised, Thought Resignation Would be Tenth Step
political doorstep by all means. Countdown has also begun necessitating the country’s uplifting with its constitutional foundations that have been ravaged by “the team of the American axis”, causing mischief and placing them under the will of the US-Zionist program in the region.
The opposition team tried to reach a government of national unity through just means, via the deliberation conference. However, the US tip to the Februarist team was clear and conclusive: agreement is forbidden. Therefore, the last chance was wasted. Hence, the opposition moved onto its last program in order to readdress the issue through the resignation of the five ministers of Hizbullah and Amal Movement coupled with Minister Yaacoub Al-Sarraf. Their resignation from the government was the firstfruits of a program of an integral and well-studied national salvation plan that includes “great and various steps under the constitution level, which will lead to the restoration of the country and its constitutional foundations by saving them from being engulfed by the US dragon whose program is now dying in the region. The US dragon will try to avoid collapse by employing escalatory steps via its tools, including the Februarist team in Lebanon, the evilness of which exuded when it violated the charter of coexistence as well as held a session for the cabinet in the absence of the ministers of the Shiite sect, the largest sect in Lebanon.
The “US team” thwarted the deliberation conference in its fourth session last Saturday. It was the last attempt to reach an agreement in order to form a government of national unity that would restore balance to the political situation in the country and limit the excessiveness of the Februarist team, monopolizing the authority and executing the US-Zionist agenda.
Now, everyone knows that the US ambassador in Beirut, Jeffrey Feltman gave clear and conclusive orders to this team in order to turn the tables and refuse the giving of the guaranteeing third to the opposition, as part of a national unity government.
One must also learn that the chairman of Future Bloc, MP Saad Hariri had suggested a barter exchange, the international government for the guaranteeing third, during his seclusion with Speaker Nabi Berri and the chairman of the parliamentary bloc “Loyalty to Resistance”, MP Mohammad Raad. This suggestion was put forward on the margin of Thursday’s meeting and issues were heading towards a settlement. But orders reached Hariri to retreat from the settlement and maintain the situation as it is, as well as to transform the court’s issue with its draft into a main issue as a process of political blackmailing of the other team with an attempt to accuse it of targeting the court by asking participation in the government’s decision.
Observing political mediums confirmed that during last Thursday’s meeting, Prime Minister Fouad Saniora said at the table that the international court draft required about two weeks to be ready, and that it would arrive to Lebanon for discussion and agreement.
On Thursday’s evening, of the same day, an active US movement was clear within the Februarist team, mirroring the fury of the executive chairman of the Lebanese Forces, Samir Geagea, because he would be the party receiving the greatest damage should the settlement take place and the Free Patriotic Movement strongly join the government.
The first surprise was that the court’s draft reached the next day, which was Friday, the day prior to the fourth deliberation session that was held on Saturday.
The second surprise was when the Prime Minister set a date for the cabinet to meet on Monday in order to approve the court’s draft. This was the same day that had been defined by Hizbullah Secretary-General, his eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, a few weeks earlier, to begin the opposition’s program in order to achieve the unity of the government. This was even before any discussions on the date of the arrival of the court’s draft. They employed this method in order to cut the road before any movement of the opposition and would regard any movement as targeting the court. After this, the Februarists attended the session on Saturday, bringing along Feltman’s instructions “to thwart the meeting”, which they did.
Synchronizing with the thwarting of the national unity government, the US ambassador had a quest, employing, directly through the Februarist team, the game of monopolization and causing diversion for the purpose of ruling. This time he tried to attract General Michel Aoun whom they had previously violently attacked and accused of joining the Syrian-Iranian axis. The issue materialized through a proposal which they offered him, appointing four ministers to represent him at the expense of Hizbullah and Amal movement. However, General Aoun buried this attempt before it saw light when he rejected this cunning proposal. Moreover, he stressed on the real participation of all the groups and strong political forces in a government of national unity.
“The Resignation”
The retaliation of Hizbullah and Amal was swift and surprising for the Februarist team and its lords. Their ministers resigned from the government on Saturday afternoon, just before Speaker Nabih Berri departed to Tehran in an official visit to the Islamic Republic.
Observing political sources believe that the Februarist team was surprised by the resignation for two reasons:
First, this team never expected that Speaker Berri would embrace this resignation from the government. They had miscalculated his political stands and his dedication to save the country from political troubles. They thought that a certain flaw was taking place in his relation and alliance with Hizbullah, which was the reason they began praising and describing him as being the national guarantee despite the fact that they harbored enmity towards him. Besides, they practiced “a process of political treason” against him which materialized in the last deliberation meeting. Berri’s inner circle pointed to this issue.
The Februarist team sooner than later displayed its real attitude towards Speaker Berri. It was manifested through the statement read by MP Saad Hariri in Qraitem, following the meeting of the Februarist team, where they accused Amal and Hizbullah of being the puppets of Syria and Iran and that they wished to thwart the international court.
Second, the Februarist team never expected that the resignation of the ministers of Hizbullah and Amal would take place so soon or that they would employ it as a first step in a program of action that seeks to restore this country’s uplifting. One senior of the opposition said that "the Februarist team had expected that the resignation would have taken place as a tenth step of the action program." Suddenly, it appears as a first step of a magnitude that struck like the lightening. Therefore, what will be of the remaining steps?
Following Steps
Meanwhile, the observing mediums and public opinion keep anticipating the next steps of the opposition. Questions are being asked about the level to which they will reach. Therefore, does the national unity government demand remain an object? Alternatively, have the early parliamentary elections become the target?
Observing mediums indicated that the action program of the opposition was an integral and coordinated plan. Its steps are being observed by a senior leader, and will be escalatory and miscellaneous including all constitutionally guaranteed democratic steps. Part of this plan will relate to the parliamentary dimension. At this point, the mediums are anticipating a certain parliamentary movement by the opposition in the context of the action program, which will advance the stage of taking to the street; and that this step will take place at the right time. In this context, the observing people are recording public fury with an urge to take to the street in order to eliminate the US hegemony in the country and uplift again the constitutional foundations. The mediums indicated that a thorough study was taking place regarding the next step, which will be soon and will mirror its great impact and influence.
On the other hand, the mediums are pointing to the issue that the national unity government has become obsolete and that the goal is now more comprehensive, which will restore the country’s total stability. This will begin with a “clean government”— as named by Hizbullah Secretary-General his eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah — which should rebuild that which the enemy destroyed and protect the victory of the resistance as well as work on correcting the political life via developing a just election code that will lead to early parliamentary elections.
In the end, all we have to do is wait for the pleasant surprises.
