G8 members prepare for summit

place next week in Germany.‏

The ministers will try to build consensus on key international issues before their leaders meet.‏

The G8 ministers are expected to hold two working meetings. One of them will be dedicated to topics like the Middle East, the future status of the Serbian province of Kosovo.‏

The second meeting will focus on the Sudanese region of Darfur and the problem of the South Caucasian republic of Nagorny Karabakh.‏

Foreign Ministers of Afghanistan and Pakistan are also taking part in the consultations.‏

At the end of the day ministers will hold a joint press conference to sum up the results achieved.‏

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is heading for Berlin where the Middle East Quartet will also meet. Together with representatives from the EU, UN and the U.S. Mr Lavrov will discuss the increasingly tense relations between Palestine and Israel.‏

Moscow stands for continuing dialogue between Palestinians and Israeli, so Russia will try to persuade its partners to lift the current blockade of the Palestinian Autonomy, which is harming its economy.‏
