3 rockets fired into Israel
wing of the Islamic Hamas movement has said it fired two rockets overnight from Gaza towards southern Israel.
"Fighters of Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades fired two Qassam rocket in response to the permanent crimes of the (Israeli) occupation in
Gaza and the West Bank," the group said in a statement on Saturday.
An Israeli military spokeswoman confirmed that two rockets had been fired, claiming that "they caused neither casualties nor damage."
Earlier today, the Al Quds Brigade, Islamic Jihad`s military wing, said that they launched a rocket at the Israeli town of Sderot, located just north-west of the Gaza Strip, on Friday evening.
The rockets followed a violent Israeli incursion into the Gaza Strip which ended early on Friday.
The Israeli troops killed 11Palestinians and wounded 28 during fierce fighting before their pulling out of the area. Two Israeli soldiers were also wounded.
According to Palestinian Maannews agency, Israeli forces reoccupied parts of the Gaza Strip, less than 24 hours after their withdrawal from the region.
Eyewitnesses said that Israeli soldiers entered the area and blocked off the entrance to Beit Lahia. In Beit Hanoun, Israeli Special Forces "occupied many of the rooftops of houses." According to people from the town, they then "started shooting at the local citizens."
