Iran Views Good Progress in Settlement of N. Issue

underlined that decisions on Iran`s nuclear issue should be made in Vienna and not New York.‏

Speaking to reporters during his weekly press briefing here on Tuesday, Elham responded to questions about Iran`s stance on a newly raised proposal called `The Time-Out Plan`, and said no such plan has been presented to Iran.‏

"There has not been any new proposal and what is said (about the time-out plan) is just at the level of the media," he said.‏

Elham also said that the UN nuclear watchdog officials have decided to visit Iran to solve the few remaining issues between the two sides.‏

He hoped that decisions made at the UN Security Council in New York would not deter the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) officials from implementing their decisions.‏

Regarding Palestine, the Iranian government spokesman said Tehran welcomes cooperation of countries for resolving the problems, adding that Palestine is an issue for all states.‏

He further called on all the parties involved in the issue to cooperate with each other to solve the problems and refrain from widening differences, saying that Zionists seek to sow seeds of discord among the relevant parties in the Palestinian issue.‏

"We should all try to cooperate and refrain from differences - a part of which has been created due to the Zionists` plots - in a bid to help Palestinians maintain and establish their rights, and cooperation of the regional countries would be effective in this regard," Elham underlined.‏

Asked about the fate of the five Iranian diplomats kidnapped during a raid by the US troops on Iran`s consulate general it the northern Iraqi city of Erbil last January, he reminded that the kidnapping of the Iranian diplomats by the US is a big international crime and a flagrant violation of the international laws, unveiling the true nature of the US which has stepped into the region with the slogans of security and human rights.‏

He viewed complete withdrawal of the occupying troops from the region as the only way to establish security in the region.‏

Elham assured that the government is pursuing the case with the diplomats until they are released.‏

Asked if Iran-Britain relations would experience a tangible change following the ascending to power of Gordon Brown, he said, "Our policies and principles do not change in conjunction with the change of governments in given countries. We demand governments to show respect for the international rules and regulations and we establish friendly relations with each of them which shows more loyalty to these rules."‏

Elsewhere, the spokesman praised the Islamic Republic of Iran`s Broadcasting (IRIB) for launching a new 24-hour news channel in English language called `Press TV`, and stressed government`s support for the satellite channel.‏
