UNODC: Iran leads in war on drugs
Iran is the world`s leading country in drug seizure and the international community knows what a hefty price it has paid for its fight against illegal narcotics, said Roberto Arbitro speaking at an NGO gathering in Tehran on Monday, Fars quoted.
He added that more important is Iran`s exceptional success in cutting demand for drugs.
Iranian NGOs active in this field are a main pillar in reducing demand for narcotics, Arbitro said.
He added although demand reduction policies in Iran are in need of more efficient awareness raising programs, they can still set a model for other countries.
