Iran, S. Arabia key to region stability

Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Tarki Bin Muhammad said on Saturday that the region is now dealing with serious and dangerous challenges which could bring mishaps to the region and the world Muslims.

The Saudi official made the remarks in his meeting with Iran`s Ambassador to Riyadh Mohammad Hosseini.

Saudi`s foreign policy is based on non-interference in the internal affairs of others and instead the country is to spare no efforts to help restore stability and security in the region, said the Saudi official.

"We fully understands Iran`s legitimate rights in benefiting from peaceful nuclear activates within international norms and regulations and call the issue to be resolved through diplomatic means," he said.

Referring to the commonalties between Iran and Saudi Arabia, the Iranian ambassador called the two sides` relations as historical and said cooperation between the two countries would help forge unity among Muslims.

"Through adopting a rational stand, we are to broaden mutual cooperation to help restore security in the region," he said.

Fomenting religious and sectarian violence would merely serve to the interests of the enemies of Islam and the Zionist regime in particular, he pointed out.

The title of knighthood which was recently awarded to blasphemous writer Salman Rushdi by UK queen indicates that the Muslims are in need of unity more than ever before, he concluded.
