Hezbollah OKs consensus president
"Hezbollah, like others in the country, are for electing a consensus president," said Hassan Fadlallah, a member of Hezbollah movement and a Lebanese MP.
He stressed that Hezbollah "does not object to a consensus president from the ruling (anti-Syrian) majority who receives the backing of all Lebanese leaders."
"Hezbollah has always been for finding consensus and agreement (regarding the upcoming president). We have been always open to all solutions," the Hezbollah deputy added.
A statement issued by Amin Germayel, the former Lebanese president, after his meeting with Fadalallah on Saturday, said that the two sides agreed on the need to quickly resolve the issue while preventing external intervention.
The presidential election in Lebanon has been postponed two times so far in order to reach a consensus over a successor to replace Emile Lahoud, whose term is due to end on November 24.
