Bush calls for regime change in Cuba

the groundwork for a new economic and political offensive against the current regime, the U.S. President announced a multi-billion-dollar "freedom fund" for Cuba to help facilitate change, and said his administration would be asking other countries to contribute.‏

Bush also urged Congress to shoe `support and solidarity ` for fundamental change in Cuba by maintaining the decades old embargo on the government until it changes.‏

Highlighting “Bush isolation as he has no support in the world," Cuba`s foreign minister, Felipe Perez Roque, called Bush`s remarks “a ridiculous threat that would be laughable "and said the Cubans won`t be intimidated.‏

Perez Roque said Bush is a "brutal repressor`` who has "no credibility.`` The US should lift the embargo "without conditions,`` he added.‏

“Bush is leaving open the option of a hypothetical and fantasy internal uprising that everybody knows is politically impossible because the Revolution has the support of the people,” noted Pérez Roque, adding that the policy in force within the Bush regime is a change of regime in Cuba “including via the use of force.”‏

Last year 183 countries opposed to the embargo before UN General Assembly while four Small Island states dependent on Washington sided with the US.‏
