IMAM Khamenei: Free-thinking people support Palestinians

In a meeting with Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Ayatollah Khamenei referred to Sri Lanka’s positive measures to support the Palestinian nation and expressed appreciation for the Sri Lankan government’s fair treatment of its Muslim residents.
“Fortunately, the Sri Lankan government is treating Muslims with courtesy. We appreciate this approach,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.
The Supreme Leader also called for the expansion of relations between the two countries.
Rajapaksa said that Iran and Sri Lanka have historic and friendly relations, adding that the two countries have implemented many joint projects.
Commenting on the terrorism problem in Sri Lanka, he said, “The terrorists were seeking to divide the country into two parts, but we managed to clear them from the eastern areas, and now we are taking great steps for the country’s development.”
He pointed out that Sri Lanka has established a committee tasked with supporting the Palestinian nation.
“We condemn the Zionists’ acts of aggression and favor the establishment of an independent Palestinian state,” the Sri Lankan president added.
