Lebanon`s Brigadier General and head of operations Francois al-Hajj killed inBaabda Explosion

Security sources said the blast in Baabda, the site of Lebanon`s presidential palace on the outskirts of the capital, was caused by an explosive device.
Security sources said a senior army officer General Francois al-Hajj was among the five dead in the explosion. Dozens were also wounded in the blast.
According to several sources, al-Hajj was tipped to replace the army`s top commander General Michel Suleiman, who is the frontrunner to become Lebanon`s next president.
Also on Tuesday, a sound grenade was set off by unknown assailants in Beirut, causing damage but no injuries, security officials said.
The attacks came as a parliament session to elect Lebanon`s president was postponed for the eighth time amid a tug-of-war between pro-government and opposition groups.
Although rival leaders have agreed on electing the army chief as president, they have so far failed to agree on a deal that would secure power-sharing rights for all political camps.
There have been some 30 explosions and assassinations in the country since 2005.
